Choosing the perfect venue for your ceremony and reception is an important part of planning your special day. By choosing to get married on the Isle of Arran you have already chosen a beautiful and inspiring venue for your wedding. In Scotland you can be married in one of two ways - by a religious ceremony or by a civil ceremony. Religious ceremonies usually take place in places of worship and may only be solemnised by a minister, clergyman, pastor, priest or other person entitled to do so. Civil ceremonies can take place either in a registry office or at an approved venue and may only be solemnised by a Registrar or Assistant Registrar who has been authorised for the purpose.
